Types of Prototypes
Form Function Prototypes
These prototypes act as a surface design and size validation samples. These prototypes prove out the surface forms and volume design features of the concept. These tend to be the first physical samples of the 3D CAD or industrial design specification. 3D scanning can be applied at this stage to help develop surface engineering
Proof of Design Prototypes
"Engineering Builds"
These prototypes tend to act as function and fit tests for the new concept. Fit tests of electronics, mechanical components and general tolerances are proved out with this series of prototypes.

Production Quality Prototypes
