Product Development
Conduction Labs is a manufacturer and distributor of open-ear headphones. This project focused on designing a new earbud product that incorporated the brand’s signature OPN Ear concept. Working closely with the Conduction Labs team and leadership, I helped develop a unique solution that delivers the same immersive experience found in the brand’s larger headset models.

Ideation: Development of the OPN Sound concept began with a series of ideation sketches, which were presented to the company’s leadership for review. The objective was to explore design solutions for transmitting sound through the internal components and external OPN concept, while integrating a manual on/off switch into the system.

Extensive industrial design ideation was done to help develop unique form factors and forward thinking innovation.

REFINED DEVELOPMENT
CAD / ENGINEEING DEVELOPMENT
Ideation: Designs featured comfort forward user experience. This was achieved by designing different series of headset silicone adapters. This was 3D printed and tested.
CAD: Understanding how to properly package the internal battery, speaker, PCBA was important. The speaker location and orientation would effect performance and sound quality. We worked closely with sound engineers on these details. (The angle of the opening was carefully selected as that would impact the sound performance and directional strength of the internal speaker system)
